First and foremost, how about a hand for Floyd 'Money' Mayweather for stepping up to the plate and taking on a real challenge? A lot of people, including yours truly, had doubts whether Floyd had any real intent in tangling with the tough and explosive veteran Mosley. Make no mistake about it, this is a superfight more than a decade in the making.
All indications point to Mayweather-Mosley happening on May 1. Actually, if you go to Bodog.com, they've had the line up with Mayweather being almost a 3-1 favorite to win for about a week now.
There are reports that an official announcement will happen next week and to some people, other than a great match-up happening in May, that could only mean one thing- more Manny Pacquiao bashing.
What more when you got all the forces that worked to discredit and disgrace Pacquiao's immaculate boxing image and reputation working together in one production?
As much as everyone in and out of boxing is sick and tired of hearing all these Mayweather-Pacquiao talk together with the PED myth and issue, I got a feeling there's more of it to come as soon as they announce the Money-Mosley bout.
It might not be that bad though. Mosley was very agreeable to the WADA-style testing when he spoke to the media and by showing an example, he and Mayweather can lead the way if this is indeed the path boxing with take into the future. After all, it's Mayweather's camp and Golden Boy Promotion's idea, so it's only befitting that they allow themselves to be the guinea pigs.
As for some people throwing the word 'fixed' and 'scripted' around, allow me to blow that conspiracy theory right now. That's stupid. I don't even want to elaborate on it. Saying a fight of this magnitude will be fixed, is ludicrous. First of all, Mosley waited for this opportunity for so long. If anything, what I'd be more wary of is Mayweather pulling out at some point. This is a real match-up that any real boxing fan would like to see.
Hopefully, we can all just stick to boxing. All the trash-talking and steroids nonsense have left a bad taste in the public's mouth, but then again, it has also put boxing back in the topic of conversation. Now you got 'the man on the street' concerned about boxing again regardless if they've seen less than 5 fights in the past couple of years. There's no such thing as bad publicity right?- unless your Manny Pacquiao.
Pacquiao is the top dog. Pacquiao is the one with the clean reputation. Mosley was a doper and the world already how big jacka$$es the Mayweathers can be. Consider this a warning Team Pacquiao: In the ruthless game of boxing, "protect yourself at all times!"
